This week’s distraction
Berlin mobility, traffic and environmental minister Manja Schreiner from the CDU stepped down Tuesday because she plagarized massively for her PhD. Well, are we not surprised; she was pro-cars and anti-bikes, which is a moronic stance to start with, given the global environmental catastrophe we are facing, plus no one at the CDU has any integrity, do they?
Just last month, a CDU politician closed down two women’s spaces in Berlin last month, on the basis of two of their staff went to a pro-Palestine protest and he claimed this was anti-semitic. This goes along the same lines as what the AfD tried to do to Oyoun, after they wanted to organise an event with Jewish Voices for Peace. The CDU are like the AfD, wearing an extra veil of Christianity to hide their hatred. We aren’t falling for it.
This week Madhvi read
This week Madhvi read All About Love by bell hooks for our feminist book club, which happened last night. What would a society built around love look like? What is love? And how is it related to politics, activism and feminism? Listen to our next episode in a couple of weeks to hear more about this book - it’s a worthwhile read!
This week Rina read
This week Rina read Real Estate by Deborah Levy. I bought this book two years ago because I liked the cover but never picked it up. Yesterday by chance I decided to read it. I am not a superstitious or spiritual person but honestly this is the book I needed to read at this time!
This week’s inspiration
This week’s inspiration is this anthology of personal essays from a diverse range of voices from the Muslim world. It’s the anthology that writer Marina Reza who spoke on this week’s podcast is featured in, and we cannot wait to read it! It’s not out yet, but save it to your want-to-read booklist!
