This week Madhvi read Ursula Le Guin’s The Word for World Is Forest. This sci-fi book came out of Le Guin’s anti-war stance and thoughts about the Vietnam war, but when you read it now, it feels written for today. It deals with toxic masculinity, climate disaster, war and colonisation. What a visionary and powerful feminist writer!
This week Rina read
This week Rina read ‘Yellow Face’ by R.F Kuang. This book is a bestseller and I can see why! I read this in one go! I was on a plane but it was only 4 hours long. A thrilling ride and I learned so much about the publishing industry!
This week’s Inspiration
This week our inspiration is Rashida Tlaib, who just got re-elected in the US! Tlaib, who is also the first woman of Palestinian descent in the US Congress, was re-elected for a fourth term as a representative for Michigan with support from the large Arab-American community in Dearborn. Well done her — keep fighting the good fight.
