Personal news
Part of the reason we said goodbye to making the podcast was so that we would have enough space for our other projects and passions. Next month, Madhvi is performing spoken word with live piano / sound art by Lutz Gallmeister and visual art by the spectacular
(follow her newsletter or Insta). This will be a cosy, intimate, and titillating arty evening at Lettrétage in Berlin Mitte— find out more.
This week’s distraction
This week’s distraction is ‘Feminist Perspectives on the Exhibition “Roads not Taken” at the German Historical Museum
What was the role of women's and lesbian groups during the so-called 'fall' of 1989? How did Marie Jalowicz Simon, a German Jew, react to the assassination attempt on Adolf Hitler on the 20th of July 1944? What did women fight for in the March Revolution of 1848/49? The themed tour looks at selected moments in 19th and 20th century German history in the exhibition “Roads not Taken. Or: Things could have turned out differently”, focusing on feminist and gender-historical perspectives. In line with the exhibition, we also pose the question: could things have turned out differently?

This week Madhvi watched
This week Madhvi watched this little interview with Gregor Gysi from Die Linke (in German) who explains why it’s important to vote for the left. He’a a pretty cool guy.
Honestly, the whole of German politics has swung right and are displaying Islamophobic, racist and xenophobic views and attitudes. One of the reasons people may not want to vote for Die Linke is because of strategic voting — will they get 5% to even get into parliament? Should I waste a vote? Well, if everyone thinks this, then they will never get the 5%.
Additionally, there is a great chance that some politicians from Die Linke will get in via direkt Mandat — like this guy in Neukölln:
Most importantly, keeping Die Linke alive means keeping leftist views in conversations, media and politics — and we need these views and the tolerance that Die Linke is fighting for, or else we will all be screwed.
The Ms Informed team will be voting for Die Linke, and we hope you will do the same!
This week Rina read
This week Rina read Ex-wife by Ursula Parrott. This book was written in 1929 and I have never loved a book this fast. This novel follows the life of a 24-year old in New York City whose husband decides to leave her for another woman. This sounds sad, but it leads her to a life of freedom, art, love, and best of all champagne! Recommend.
This week’s Inspiration
This week’s inspiration is Virginie Despentes, who happens to be the author of our next read for our feminist book club: King Kong Theory.

Virginie is a French writer, novelist, and filmmaker. She is known for her work exploring gender, sexuality, and people who live in poverty or other marginalised conditions.
With a transgressive exploration of obscenity's limits as a writer or film-maker, she proposes social critique and an antidote to the new moral order. Her characters deal with misery and injustice, self-violence such as drug addiction, or violence towards others such as rape or terrorism — violence she has also suffered from. She is one of the most popular contemporary French authors.
