This week’s podcast
I know we said we were taking a break from the podcast, but this is a special episode that we had planned over a year ago.
We speak to Luisa, who only realised that she had been abused as a child recently, 30 years after the event. She talks about her experience, and how life has been for her both before and after this memory resurfaced
This week’s distraction
This week’s distraction is the Dead Ladies Show 10th anniversary show on May 13th!
“ The DEAD LADIES SHOW is a series of entertaining and inspiring presentations on women who achieved amazing things against all odds. Each show hosts passionate cheerleaders of too-oft forgotten women, inviting its loyal audience into a sexy séance (of sorts) celebrating these impressive icons, turbulent lives, and deathless legacies.
It’s our tenth anniversary! How did that happen? So we’re jubilating to the max, bringing you three ladies we’ve always wanted to talk about but never quite dared. And seeing as it’s our birthday, we’re doing it all in English – it’s our party and we’ll cry if we want to. Our fantastic podcast producer Susan Stone will be presenting, alongside your beloved co-hosts Florian Duijsens and Katy Derbyshire. As for you, our charming audience, we thought we’d offer you a fun opportunity. All you have to do is DRESS UP AS A DEAD LADY OF YOUR CHOICE, and we’ll let you in for free! Join us to marvel over how time’s passed, while looking ahead to a future full of laudable dead ladies. In a good way!
Standard tickets cost €10 and the reduced price is €4. Doors open 7:30 pm – come on time to get a good seat!”

This week Madhvi watched
This week Madhvi watched Systemsprenger (System Crasher), a 2019 German film directed by Nora Fingscheidt. The film is about a little girl called Benni who has trauma and is living in social care. This film made me laugh, rage and cry — watch it on Mubi. It's excellent!
This week Rina read
This week Rina read ‘Women in pictures’ by Catherine McCormack. I am only one chapter in and I already really like this book. Catherine McCormack is an art historian and professor who takes a deep dive into the depiction of women in Art.
This week’s Inspiration
This week’s inspiration is Flamingo Farm, a rustic little permaculture farm in Brandenburg that hosts a variety of events. Madhvi is holding a 2 day Writing from the Senses Workshop there on the 14th and 15th June.
Come write, eat some organic home-cooked meals, and play with the chickens with me!
